Moonshot Mates is a place to find people to build with. These are the few rules that keep it that way. They apply everywhere on the site: public threads, crew channels, private replies, direct messages and Base Camps.
People post half-formed ideas here on purpose. Build on them, ask questions, offer what you know. Disagree with the idea, not the person.
No insults, threats, slurs, sexual advances or pile-ons, in public threads, crew channels, private replies or direct messages. If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop.
Nothing that attacks people for who they are: race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or age.
Share your own work where it fits the idea. Don't post the same thing across threads, advertise unrelated products, or message people in bulk.
No instructions for hurting people, nothing illegal, no one else's private information, and nothing sexual involving minors, ever.
Don't pretend to be another person or organisation. If an AI drafted your reply, the site labels it; don't strip the label by pasting it in as your own.
What is said in a crew channel, a private reply or a direct message stays there unless the people in it agree to share it.
A Base Camp is a local group of members, run by its organizers. Organizers host it: they decide who joins, can remove people, and look after what goes on in it. The same rules apply inside a Base Camp as everywhere else on the site, and they apply in person as much as online.
A listed Base Camp is public: anyone can see its name, city, description, topics and members. An unlisted one is seen only by the people on it. Nothing a Base Camp does is organized, vetted, supervised or insured by the site; its members are responsible for anything that happens at a meetup. Meet in public places, and tell someone where you're going.
Each Base Camp has a chat that only its members can read. Its organizers can delete any message in it, and the author is told and keeps a copy. You can delete your own messages, and report any message to the site's moderators.
To report a Base Camp, use the Report button on its page. The report names its organizers, who aren't told who sent it. A moderator can suspend a Base Camp, which hides it from everyone but the moderators.
This meetup is organized by members of this Base Camp, not by Moonshot Mates. The site doesn't sponsor, vet, supervise or insure meetups, and isn't responsible for anything that happens at one. Meetups are for members aged 18 or over. Meet in public places, tell someone where you're going, and look after yourself. If anything worries you, report it.
Looking after yourself
If you organize one
To report a meetup or whoever posted it, report the member from their profile, or the Base Camp from its page. A moderator can cancel a meetup, or suspend the Base Camp.
Block. On anyone's profile you can block them. You stop seeing what they write, and they can't message you, reply on ideas you command, invite you, or ask to join your crews. They aren't told, and you can undo it from your own profile.
Report. Every message has a Report button, and so does every idea, every item on an evidence board, every meetup, every profile and every Base Camp. A report goes to the site's moderators with a copy of the message or the thing's text, including a crew, private or direct one. The person you report isn't told who reported them, and you're told in your notifications what was done.
Commanders. An idea's commanders look after its public thread and its crew channel. They can hide or delete what is posted there, and the author is told and keeps a copy of their own words.
A moderator reads each report and does one of three things: leaves the message alone, deletes it, or suspends the member from posting. A suspended member can still sign in and read. Whoever wrote a deleted message, or was suspended, is told in their notifications, and so is whoever sent the report.
Every report is emailed to the moderators as it arrives, and reports are normally looked at within 48 hours. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first: the site can't send help.
There are also limits on how fast anyone can post, send messages, ask to join crews and file reports. They are set well above normal use, so you should only meet one if something is posting for you.
To reach the people who run the site, write to hello@moonshotmates.ai. That is also where to appeal if something of yours was removed or your account was suspended and you think it was a mistake. Say which account is yours.
